I was looking for a high quality and durable keepsake box where I would keep some of my cherished items. This particular item is of really great quality which also as a useful lock with two keys to it. The finishing is smooth, the size just perfect, and it opens and closes without much effort. Overall, it’s a top notch quality keepsake box. If you are looking for one then this should be a must buy for you.The box is very nice looking and seems durable. The lock, on the other hand, failed after 12 days. A box without a lock, even a weak one like this, does not serve its purpose. Disappointed, to say the least.This chest is much larger than I expected it to be and looks absolutely gorgeousThe wood has a beautiful glossy finish with a nice red tint to the natural wooden hewIt feels sturdy and durable and overall pretty well made and decent qualityThe lock is very basic and simple and could be compared to the small locks that are on journals and diaries but for some reason mine is extremely difficult to unlock It seems like you have to really finesse the key and have it just the right angle when you turn it or it doesn't want to unlock which is a bit annoying but since i don't usually actually need to lock it for any reason this isn't and issue for meThis is the kind of item where the lock is more to detour small children or for looks only does obviously with a box like this if someone wants to break into it it would not be hard to pride open anyway so the functionality of the lock isn't very important in my opinionI collect dice and sets of dice and actually ordered this to hold them all in because my dice jar was just not cutting it anymore I was super surprised and happy when it was almost twice the size I expected It is probably a foot and a half long and a good seven inches deep which is fantasticOverall the quality is good the look is gorgeous and for the cost the value is there and i would certainly order this again or give it as a gift and think it would make a lovely decor item in about any spaceI'm a huge fan of keeping keepsakes safe. For a while, I was one of those types who just kept pictures in a drawer and tossed more in as time went by, but when I'd revisit those same pictures the edges would be curled. And usually, the same drawer would be the spot I'd hide mementoes from past events, dates, etc. But, this handy keepsake box not only looks great - the wood has a soft gold/red shimmer, and the hinges are sturdy - it's seems super durable. My only concern is the locking mechanism that's on the latch - it's a simple lock that comes with two keys. The keys seem flimsy, but haven't broken or bent yet, and the lock is a bit stiff to turn. Otherwise, this will be a great place to store memories, keepsakes, and important documents. I'm planning to keep it in a safe place so I can go back to it every so often, but more substantial than a junk drawer of memories. 8/10, I would recommend this as a gift idea for a wedding, anniversary, birthday, or even a graduation gift.The box is nice and better than a plastic box to be sure. But there are gold hardware hinges and a silver clasp. The details on the finish was nice but not perfect. It's close to super nice but is just nice for reaching a level of quality and elegance. Matching hardware and a little more care with construction would make this great but also probably twice the price so ymmv.First of all, I was anticipating something the size of a small jewelry box, so I was thoroughly impressed by the size. (iPhone 12 for scale) It's absolutely beautiful and the craftsmanship is lovely - but there were a few flaws that seem to have missed quality control. The lid is skewed just slightly and doesn't appear to be attached all the way, and there is a flaw in the finish on the front. Design-wise, I wish that the finish matched on the latch and the hinges, but otherwise, it's a beautiful piece that I look forward to using!This box is nice and should serve you well for a long time - just don't expect luxury or heirloom quality. The fit and finish of the wood is good but not great. There is some roughness to the wood as it isn't perfectly well sanded. The overall design of the box is somewhat plain without any ornate or intricate mouldings. The hinges are fine but there are only 2 of them and they are small so I do worry about long-term durability.The box is definitely going to be a step up from cardboard or plastic but it feels slightly overpriced for just a box.This is a beautiful keepsake box, good for keeping family heirlooms in or photos. It appears to be made well and opens and closes smoothly.
